FedEx Driver Goes Viral After Shoveling Couple's Front Porch -- Good People DO Exist!

Fed Ex guy shovels customer's stoop

Here’s a story that’ll warm your heart this gloomy week!

A FedEx delivery man is getting a round of applause emojis on social media after he did a good deed for a Michigan customer by taking the time to shovel snow off her front porch.

According to CNN, kindergarten teacher Jodi Brooks LaFreniere was in her classroom on Thursday when she noticed a disturbance outside the front door of her home on her Ring camera.

She told the outlet:

“I was wondering who was at my house since my fiancé was away in Alaska, teaching. Since we live in a remote area, our driveway is a half-mile long, so for delivery people it’s quite the drive to get to our house.”

The visitor was FedEx courier Melvin Marlett, who was dropping off a large package for the teacher at her Manistique home.

What happened next will perplex many rational-minded people: Marlett trekked through the snow with the package and set it down, then picked up a shovel and actually cleared out a pathway to the door — something he was not required to do!

LaFreniere was so touched by the act of kindness, she uploaded the footage to her Facebook page, writing in the caption:

“Shout out to this guy! He shoveled my stoop while I was gone.”

Way to go above and beyond, FedEx Guy!

While LaFreniere is certainly no stranger to this type of not-all-heroes-wear-capes behavior where she lives, she said she “couldn’t” believe a courier would go as far as to shovel her porch pro bono, telling the outlet:

“Although we see many acts of kindness in the Upper Peninsula, it was still surprising to see that he went the extra step. I shared it with my coworkers immediately because I couldn’t believe it. It made my day.”

The Michigan resident said she’d never spoken to Marlett before, but noted the FedEx employee and her fiancé Rodney Riesland were friendly, as he was usually home when packages were delivered.

As for why Marlett, a 23-year FedEx veteran, went the extra mile for his customers? Well, turns out, he’s just a really nice guy!

He told CNN:

“I would hope it’s something that anybody would have done. If you take care of your customers, they take care of you.”

His efforts clearly did not go unnoticed. LaFreniere told local press:

“There are good people out there who do selfless acts.”

And most of them live in Michigan, apparently!
