Foster The People's Pumped Up Kicks Pulled Off The Radio

Foster The People‘s hit, Pumped Up Kicks, has been pulled off the radio following last week’s Newtown, Connecticut shootings.
Understandable, since the song illustrates a violent high school shooting with a chorus that goes:

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, / You better run, better run, outrun my gun. / All the other kids with the pumped up kicks, / You better run, better run, faster than my bullet.

Bandmember Mark Foster has previously said that the upbeat tune with somber lyrics was inspired by the Columbine massacre and created to bring attention to gun violence in schools.
But we guess, at this time of real turmoil, the song does less to inspire change than it does remind those grieving how sinister and wasteful this tragedy really is.
The news follows the announcement that Kesha‘s new single, Die Young, was also taken off the radio this week in response to the Sandy Hook Elementary disaster.
Listen, whatever can be done to ease the pain of those affected by this evilness, should be done.
