Fox News Freaks Out Over J. Crew Ad

J. Crew president Jenna Lyons has sent Fox News into a tizzy and it’s all over painting her son Beckett‘s toenails pink.

The image that sparked the “gender identity debate” was featured in an email to J. Crew customers last week highlighting Jenna’s favorite products, which included pink Essie nail polish.

The caption read “Lucky for me I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink. Toenail painting is way more fun in neon” and so the outcry began.

Psychiatrist Dr. Keith Ablow wrote in his health column on Fox News: “This is a dramatic example of the way that our culture is being encouraged to abandon all trappings of gender identity.”

Media Research Center├óΓé¼Γäós Erin Brown, echoed Ablow’s sentiment in an opinion piece on Friday:

“Not only is Beckett likely to change his favorite color as early as tomorrow, Jenna’s indulgence (or encouragement) could make life hard for the boy in the future. J.CREW, known for its tasteful and modest clothing, apparently does not mind exploiting Beckett behind the facade of liberal, transgendered identity politics.”

Wow.

Everyone needs to relax. He’s just a kid!
