'Friends' Is Leaving Netflix At Midnight, Here's Where To Watch Instead!

The cast of Friends will always be there for you… just not on Netflix!!

Fans of the iconic sitcom may not be quite ready to say goodbye to 2019 because it means the series is no longer going to be available on the streaming service.

As you may recall, WarnerMedia outbid Netflix (to the tune of around $400 million to $500 million) for the rights to the TV show back in July. Friends has lived on Netflix since 2015 when they paid $100 million for the rights to exclusively stream it on their platform. Per Nielsen data, it was the second most-streamed show in 2018 after The Office.

But fear not, all 236 episodes will become available on HBO Max when it launches in May! Since the iconic program is syndicated, it will still regularly air on cable television. If you really can’t wait, using some holiday money to purchase a DVD set to own forever is always a viable option.

Something else to look forward to on HBO Max? Get ready to see the core cast: Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer, together once again in a new unscripted reunion special.

Not to bum you out even further, but The Office fans should prepare for a similar fate. Similarly, the streaming rights to the show were purchased by NBC for an estimated $500 million, and it will live exclusively on the new Peacock streaming service as of April 2021. It is unclear how long the gap will be between departure and arrival.
