Pills Found At Scene Of Gene Hackman & Wife Betsy's Death Identified

New details have come out in the investigation into the deaths of Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa.

The couple and one of their dogs were found dead inside their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Wednesday. From the start, the situation has been horrifying. Gene and Betsy were gone for maybe “a couple of weeks” — at least long enough that the 64-year-old classical pianist started to show signs of “mummification” already! They couldn’t even be identified until 12 hours after their discovery! Their bodies were too far gone!

Right now, we don’t have any answers about what caused their deaths. Police are still waiting for the results of the autopsy. So far, it’s believed “no foul play” was involved… though cops “are not ruling that out” yet. They have labeled their deaths as “suspicious.”

While we may not have a lot of answers at this time, we do know one thing now: what kind of pills were located at the scene. The pair were found in different parts of the home, with Betsy lying on the floor of the bathroom near an open bottle of prescription drugs. Those pills were scattered across the counter. Now we know what they are!

According to a search warrant obtained by People on Friday, the pills were an unspecified thyroid medication, Tylenol, and diltiazem. That last medication is often used to treat high blood pressure. A calcium-channel blocker like that can be very dangerous, even fatal in too high a dosage. Hmm.

Unfortunately, this info doesn’t bring us much closer to what could have happened. But so far, this is the biggest lead police seem to have — especially since carbon monoxide poisoning doesn’t seem to be the case here! Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know!
