Oh, no! Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen‘s engagement is getting overshadowed by even more drama!
As Perezcious readers know, the Buffalo Bills quarterback revealed late last week that he popped the question to the actress on November 22 after they began dating in the spring of 2023. Right after sharing a romantic AF photo from the proposal, Hailee’s Spider-Verse co-star seemed to be publically sulking about her officially being off the market. But now Josh’s ex — or someone pretending to be her — is chiming in, too!

First, here’s the loved-up post that kicked started all this controversy! See (below):
So sweet! If only Hailee and Josh’s co-stars and exes felt the same. LOLz!
After the engagement news dropped on Friday, the athlete’s ex-girlfriend Brittany Williams could be seen commenting on a post on her Instagram feed — and it was a super rude comment! First, a fan threw shade at her love life, writing:
“Haven’t found the next pro athlete yet????”
Brittany then responded:
“luckily my boyfriend owns a team and doesn’t play for one. don’t have to be with another brain dead CTE athlete.”
Jeez!!!
Check it out (below):
That’s low! If you don’t know, CTE stands for chronic traumatic encephalopathy. It’s a degenerative brain disease believed to be caused by repeated head injuries and has been found in the brains of football stars and other contact sports players. It’s a serious thing — not exactly something to be used in a diss like this!
But here’s the thing: Brittany claims she didn’t write that post at all! The nasty now-viral comment has since been deleted, and early on Saturday morning, Brittany took to her IG Story to insist she’d been hacked! She shared:
“My accounts have been hacked several times tonight. Trying to get it resolved. If anyone has any tips please lmk. “
Yikes! Someone really had it out for her (and Josh) to post a comment like that, if this really was a hacker. Or could Brittany just be saying this now that the diss got so much attention? Hmm. For what it’s worth, she’s known the NFL star since they were kids and dated him from 2017 to 2023 — before Josh quickly moved on with the True Grit alum. The timing of things could give her motive to be upset by this engagement news, that’s for sure.
As mentioned, Hailee’s Spider-Man co-star Shameik Moore, who plays her on-screen love interest in the animated superhero franchise, also seemed to be bummed by the announcement, though he has since denied fans’ theories. Who knew this engagement would be so messy! Reactions?! Sound OFF (below).
