What Heartwrenching Scene Was Cut From The How I Met Your Mother Finale? Would It Have Fixed Everything?

There were definitely some mixed feelings about the How I Met Your Mother finale.
Fans practically revolted at the twists dropped on them, even going so far as to demand an alternate ending!
But Alyson Hannigan thinks there was a pivotal scene cut that would have changed fans’ minds about where the series went. She said:

“But [the full script] was also much more heart-wrenching, which maybe people wouldn├óΓé¼Γäót have liked. Honestly, if you saw [that] cut, it would be even more heart-wrenching than what the finale was. They were like, ‘No. It├óΓé¼Γäós just too gut-wrenching.’ And I was like, ‘That├óΓé¼Γäós what I want. I want my heart ripped out and slammed on the floor and, like, stomped on!'”

So what was the biggest cut from that script? SPOILER ALERT!
The mother’s funeral. Alyson said:

“[That] would have been better for the audience, so that then they can process, ‘Oh, [Ted] mourned. He got closure’ ├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥ and then they├óΓé¼Γäód be happy that [he and Robin] got together. Rather than be like, ‘Oh, wait. She died? What? They’re together, huh?’ And credits. That’s what I think was too fast.”

Maybe it would have helped, but it’s too late to tell now. Too bad they can’t include that one on the DVD!
