This is one lucky duck goose!
Garcia the goose had the top half of her beak ripped off after getting caught in a fence at her sanctuary with her tongue left exposed.
Fearing the goose would not be able to fend for herself in the farmyard, she was almost put down, but luckily talented vets fitted a black prosthetic nose and she is back to eating as normal.
Veterinarians are doing AMAZING work recently!
Terry Kemp, a veterinary nurse and founder of the animal sanctuary where Garcia lives said of the procedure:
“Who would have thought you could save a goose’s life with a piece of fibreglass – it’s absolutely incredible. We are delighted.”
A piece of fiber glass made compliments of Bird expert Dr. Alan Jones who crafted the fibreglass beak before it was fitted while the animal was under general anaesthetic.
The beaks metal framework filled with a fiberglass paste was attached with wires to the goose.
Wow! Really great work, Dr. Jones!
One thing is for sure. Garcia is one lucky duck goose.
