Good for you, Janet Jackson!
The superstar singer has made Billboard history this week after earning herself the top spot on the company’s Billboard 200 albums chart with her new work Unbreakable.

And unbreakable really is the theme for Jackson, here; now that she’s graced the top spot in 2015, that makes her just the third musical artist ever to achieve a number one album ranking in each of the last four decades. Talk about staying power!!
Jackson’s new album, which features tracks like No Sleeep with J. Cole, sold 116,000 copies in its first week, outdoing everyone — including The Weeknd, Drake, Fetty Wap, and Tamar Braxton — for the title, and with it, the historical nod.
If it sounds like the Billboard 200 is being dominated by R&B and hip-hop right now, well, that’s because it is! This week marks the first time since January 13, 2007 that the first five spots on the Top 200 were taken by R&B and hip-hop acts!
(In case you were wondering, the top five that week back in January 2007 were Omarion‘s 21, Akon‘s Konvicted, the Dreamgirls film soundtrack, NasHip Hop Is Dead, and Young Jeezy‘s The Inspiration. Ahhh, nostalgia!)

More importantly for Janet, the company she now joins in this four decades of dominance is special: Barbra Streisand and Bruce Springsteen are the only other two artists to ever chart an album at number one in the ’80s, ’90s, ’00s, and ’10s.
AH-Mazing!
Congrats, gurl!!! You’ve earned it — literally!
