Jay-Z, Hova himself, opened up to New York radio station Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club on Wednesday morning about a ton of topics, including the album, the app, his daughter Blue Ivy, Twitter, and Beyonc├â┬⌐‘s pregnancy. Find out what he had to say…AFTER THE JUMP!
On the subject of the release of Magna Carta Holy Grail literally breaking Samsung’s app, Jay-Z said this:
“The thing that happened with Samsung was a real thing. There were 20 million hits to the app├óΓé¼┬ª and I├óΓé¼Γäóm not saying 20 million people hit the app, but we went over a million. If those people were trying and couldn├óΓé¼Γäót get in, so they hit it 20 more times. It was 20 million hits to the app and it broke. No one is expecting that. It├óΓé¼Γäós no way in the world you could calculate 20 million hits. It├óΓé¼Γäós not even a number that you could fathom. It├óΓé¼Γäós 20 times the amount we thought was going to happen, so you can├óΓé¼Γäót even prepare service for that. You want your fans to have that experience, it was really disheartening for me.”
20 million hits sounds like a pretty good problem to have! Talking about fatherhood, Jay-Z was asked if being a dad has changed him at all. This is how Jay responded:
“Absolutely. I hope I├óΓé¼Γäóm great, but I├óΓé¼Γäóm learning. It├óΓé¼Γäós a new thing for me, and I guess it├óΓé¼Γäós changed me in a way that. I mean, knowing what├óΓé¼Γäós important, but I had a pretty good sense of that. It just reaffirmed the things I believed I knew.”
Aw, we bet Jay-Z is the best dad! He also opened up about the pretty rampant rumors that Beyoncé had a surrogate:
“That’s probably the most ridiculous thing I ever heard and the fact that people were really running with that, at first I thought it was one of those get press things like ‘let’s run with this for press’ and then I was slowly like, ‘oh y’all believe this? Ya’ll really believe this?’…That’s really messed up because that’s the time that you’re meant to be most joyous you know you got life and the whole thing supposed to be a joyous time. Whether you say you care about it or not is annoying, and you shouldn’t really have to deal with that as a human being but you know that’s the position that we’re in. No matter how many times you say ‘Beyonc├â┬⌐’s pregnant,’ people are gonna believe what they want to believe.”
Finally, one of our favorite quotes from Jay-Z in the interview was when he was talking about his live Q&A he had all day on Twitter on Tuesday. Here’s what he said:
“That was addictive. I can’t be on Twitter. It’s like weed. I like it, but too much of it is not good for me.”
