Jay-Z Opens Up About R**e Allegations -- Admits He Felt 'Uncontrollable Anger' Over Now Dismissed Claims

Jay-Z Felt ‘Uncontrollable Anger’ After SA Lawsuit Allegations

JAY-Z is opening up about his rock bottom.

In late 2024, an unnamed woman filed a shocking lawsuit accusing the Hard Knock Life rapper and Diddy of sexually assaulting her at an MTV VMAs after party back in 2000 — when she was just 13 years old. A few months later, early in the new year, the case went by the wayside as the Jane Doe moved to voluntarily dismiss it with prejudice as several lapses in her story started emerging. Ultimately, the accusations were dropped and JAY-Z took a victory lap after having his name cleared… but not before spiraling into some DEEP anger.

During an interview with GQ published on Tuesday, Beyoncé’s husband candidly looked back on the last year of his life amid the allegations:

“It was hard, really hard. I was, like, heartbroken.”

He told the interviewer he was “glad we got right to that, you know, so we could just get that out of the way.”

“I was really heartbroken by everything that occurred.”

He went on to argue “we’re in a space now where it’s almost like consequence is not thought about enough because everything is so instant.” He claimed an accuser should be “super sure” of their story before moving forward with it, and admitted he experienced “uncontrollable anger” during the dark period:

“That s**t took a lot out of [me]. I was angry, I haven’t been that angry in a long time. Uncontrollable anger. You don’t put that on someone — that’s a thing you better be super sure [of]. It used to be like that, like, you’d have to be super sure before you put those kind of things on a person.”

The 56-year-old went on to swear by a “strict” code he adopted in his early years on the streets:

“Even a person like me, even when we were doing the worst things … we had those kinds of rules. There was a line: no women, no kids. You know, you hear those sayings, but those are things that I took from the street, you know, morals, integrity, code. Those things I took because we lived and died by that. So it’s strict for me. Like, it meant a lot to me.”

The father-of-three continued:

“I took that really hard. And I knew that we was going to walk through that. We was going to walk through that because, first of all, it’s not true. And the truth is, at the end of the day it still reigns supreme.”

On getting back on track this year, he said:

“We played enough defense. 2026 is all offense.”

You can hear more from his interview (below):

After Jane Doe and lawyer Tony Buzbee’s suit was dropped last year, Hova issued an official statement to TMZ:

“Today is a victory. The frivolous, fictitious and appalling allegations have been dismissed. This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, my loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

He went on to take a jab at Buzbee, who represented many of Diddy’s alleged victims:

“This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.”

He also noted there should be some sort of recourse for those who are unjustly accused:

“[The courts must also] protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.”

The rapper left off:

“By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can — he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid one red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”
