Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola is opening up about her fertility journey — and it is NOT easy!
In the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 7 premiere on Thursday, the 37-year-old revealed she has started the IVF process to hopefully get pregnant with her fiancé Justin May. She revealed in the episode:
“I just want to do what we have to do now before it’s too late.”
You can hear her talk more about the emotional endeavor in a clip from the episode (below):
Now, she’s opening up about the ups and downs of her journey in more depth.
During a conversation for Page Six’s Virtual Reali-Tea podcast on Monday, Sammi gushed about having her fiancé to lean on during the process. She explained:
Thank goodness for Justin because he’s been my rock and my backbone through the whole process. We’re going through it together so we’ve kind of had each other.”
How sweet!
However, as she talked about in Thursday’s episode of Jersey Shore, she was apprehensive to tell anyone else. She explained on the podcast:
“Some people don’t believe in IVF and stuff, so I was nervous to tell anybody. I was leaning on other platforms like Instagram or TikTok and seeing what other people were going through. By watching and learning from them, I was starting to realize maybe I should talk about this. Or maybe I should come out and talk about this because maybe someone else can relate to me, or maybe I can help somebody else or maybe somebody else can just share their story or their journey and just help me in some other way.”

She continued:
“In the beginning I was so against it, but towards the end I started to open up a little bit more, and it was nice to get the girls’ support.”
She’s of course talking about her castmates Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “Jwoww” Farley, Deena Cortese, and Angelina Pivarnick. She added:
“You kind of see how it all plays out. I’m still on this journey and I’m still going through it, and it’s a difficult journey but it’s nice to hear other’s people’s stories and just having the support there is just really, really nice.”
We’re so glad she’s become more comfortable with being open about her journey. It’s undoubtedly a deeply personal process, but having the support of friends and family is huge. But as far as re-watching her journey on the show as episodes begin to air, the reality star is admittedly a bit nervous. She dished:
“I’m nervous, I am so nervous. I go through it on the show, but I was so nervous about the whole thing. So things were limited because I wasn’t sure what to film. It was just a scary process in general because it’s so personal.”
Sammi ultimately decided to not allow cameras into her appointments with her, but she will be shown administering hormone injections to herself. She continued:
“I feel like I’m still nervous to watch it and I’m still nervous to see what people say. It’s a very vulnerable stage in my life. It still is and I’m still going through it, so I don’t know how I’m going to be watching it. And I think that’s why I was so nervous in the first place because I didn’t know if I would be able to handle it.”
Well, we wish her the best of luck on her ongoing journey. She deserves all the happiness!!
