Frasier Star John Mahoney Dead At 77

no title
John Mahoney passed away at the age 77 on Sunday.
His manager confirmed the sad news that the Frasier star had passed while under hospice care at his home in Chicago.
Though his accent would never betray it, Mahoney was born in Blackpool, England. He didn’t move to the U.S. until he was 19 and didn’t start acting until he was 37.

He found success for decades, with big parts in acclaimed films Moonstruck, Say Anything, and Primal Fear and a recently recurring role on TV Land‘s Hot In Cleveland.
But he will always be remembered as Marty Crane, the lovable but cantankerous father of Frasier and Niles, for which he was nominated for Emmys and Golden Globes twice each and even won a SAG Award from his fellow actors.
Mahoney never married or had any children.
