John Stamos Admits He 'Didn't Want To Get Divorced' From Rebecca Romijn: 'Broke My Heart'

If John Stamos had his way back in the day, he never would’ve gotten his heart broken and divorced from Rebecca Romijn!

Perezcious readers will recall the pair met at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 1994, when the actor attended as a guest with Full House on-screen wife Lori Loughlin. Meanwhile, Rebecca had been walking on the runway as a model. They dated for four years before getting married in 1998. However, they ended up not being each other’s forever person. They got divorced in 2005 — something John didn’t want at the time! While talking about divorces on an episode of The Really Good Podcast with Bobbi Althoff, he said:

“I had one. It broke my heart.”

According to John, the divorce stung so much and for so “long” because he never wanted it to happen:

“Because I didn’t want to get divorced. She wanted to. It took me a long time to get over it.”

However, he hasn’t been stuck on Rebecca ever since. He has since moved on and married actress Caitlin McHugh in 2018, welcoming a son together that same year. For her part, the X-Men alum tied the knot with Jerry O’Connell. John sparked a years-long feud with the couple after making harsh comments about Rebecca while promoting his memoir, If You Would Have Told Me. Rebecca was “shocked” over the remarks, while Jerry had no “interest” in reading the book, especially after learning he accused Rebecca of cheating during their relationship. However, John buried the hatchet with the Jerry Maguire alum last year. Recalling their interaction, he said:

“She has a nice life. She married another guy. She has kids. They’re doing great. I met him recently. It was very interesting. He was very sweet. He was very nice… We were at a party together, and he came over, and he was super nice. He couldn’t have been sweeter. He was very, very funny and very charming.”

As for Rebecca? John claimed he hasn’t seen her since their divorce! Wow! That’s a long time! We can’t blame her for seemingly avoiding him, though! He did call her “the devil” and express how much he “hated” her! Why would anyone want to be around someone, especially an ex, who thinks of you like that?
