Johnny Depp has played plenty of whimsical characters over the years, but now he’s gearing up for his most magical role yet!
The actor has been cast in the sequel to the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!
According to reports, the 53-year-old’s role is being kept under the invisibility cloak for now — though fans will catch a glimpse of Depp’s character in Fantastic Beasts, in which he is reported to make a brief cameo.

There seems to be quite a mixed reaction to the star’s addition from fans of J.K. Rowling‘s wizarding world — not just because of he’s had a pretty scandal-ridden year so far.
Last month, Rowling — who also wrote the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts — announced there would be five total movies in the spin-off series, so we’re guessing Johnny will be sticking around a while.
