If anyone was curious as to why Kanye West mentioned Justin Timberlake last night at the VMAs, you’re not alone!
As we reported on Sunday, the Yeezus artist was awarded the Video Vanguard Award where he gave an EXTREMELY long speech which included a seemingly random name drop of JT.

In the epic rant, the rapper explains why he bumrushed the stage at both Taylor Swift‘s 2009 VMAs win and Beck‘s 2015 Grammys victory — because he was simply defending art.
But how does the former *NSYNC member come into play?!
In 2007, the boybander — along with Gnarls Barkley — were nominated for Album Of The Year at the Grammys but both lost to the Dixie Chicks.
Mr. West said that Jessica Biel‘s husband “had tears in his eyes” after losing.
Mr. Timberlake went on Twitter that very night and reacted to his unexpected mention.
He wrote:

Well it turns out, he didn’t watch the FULL speech.
After he did, the crooner shared:
