Kanye West recently sat down for an interview with the New York Times and sort of treated it like a therapy session, talking about almost everything you could possibly imagine and then some.
And his fashion comments just might take the cake!
Believe it or Yeezus references his infamous skirt kilt not once, but twice!
The interviewer said Kanye basically used Jay-Z as a buffer to show people “he’s cool”, to which Mr. West responded with, “Yeah, even with the kilt on.”
Hey, what are friends for?
Later on Kanye still had kilts on the brain when talking about vanity, saying: “Like what├óΓé¼Γäós vanity about wearing a kilt?”
We’re guessing nothing?
And despite being a relatively private guy, Ye does comment on throwing out all of girlfriend Kim Kardashian‘s clothes and replacing them with “the dopest sh*t”, Yeezy said:
“That was from a place of love. It├óΓé¼Γäós hard when people read things in a lot of different ways. You know, the amount of backlash I got from it is when I decided to not be on the show anymore. And it├óΓé¼Γäós not that I have an issue with the show; I just have an issue with the amount of backlash that I get. Because I just see like, an amazing person that I├óΓé¼Γäóm in love with that I want to help.”
Aww. Doesn’t that make you all warm and fuzzy inside?
Alas, he doesn’t respect you if people aren’t giving each other your designs for Christmas. He explained:
“I sat down with a clothing guy that I won’t mention, but hopefully if he reads this article, he knows it’s him and knows that out of respect, I didn’t mention his name: this guy, he questioned me before I left his office:, “If you’ve done this, this, and this, why haven’t you gone further in fashion?” And I say, “I’m learning.” But ultimately, this guy that was talking to me doesn’t make Christmas presents, meaning that nobody was asking for his [stuff] as a Christmas present. If you don’t make Christmas presents, meaning making something that’s so emotionally connected to people, don├óΓé¼Γäót talk to me.”
Hmm, he couldn’t possibly be referring to Riccardo Tisci, could he!? Sneaky, sneaky!
Despite his superior styling talents, he doesn’t love all of his outfits. Regarding his outfits from five years ago, he admitted:
“Yeah, kill self. That├óΓé¼Γäós all I have to say. Kill self.”
Harsh words, Kanye! Wonder what he’ll think of his Maison Martin Margiela mask five years from now???
