We’re guessing there aren’t too many people who Barbara Walters bestows apologies on, but Katy Perry is now one of them!
It seems that Katy was totally dissed by the interview queen when she showed up late for her 2011 interview for Barbara’s 10 Most Fascinating People, and now, the whole story is pouring out.
Katy revealed to Billboard that Barbara slammed her for keeping her waiting the night of their sitdown. But Katy claims she had warned everyone about her tight schedule that would undoubtedly make her tardy, all while she struggled internally with her performance that same night and her marriage to Russell Brand that was crumbling to pieces.
Katy explained:
“Barbara showed up at the original time anyway. When I got there, I apologized immediately, but then she said to me, ‘You know, I’ve only ever waited for one other person this long, and you know who that person was? Judy Garland. You know how she turned out, right?’ I was like, ‘Oh, snap! Yes, (witch)!’ “
Um… okay, we know Barbara meant that comment as a guilt trip at the time, but how cool would it be to be compared to Judy Garland’s star power regardless? No? Just us? Fine, moving on…
As the truth of Katy’s situation has from to life and Barbara knows all this, she’s making things right with the Roar diva. She admitted on The View this week:
“Katy, if I made you feel at all unhappy, during a time when you were obviously unhappy, and I didn’t know, I’m sorry. But you can’t always know!”
We’re so glad these fab ladies have been able to make up…
…because who knows, Katy might just make a Roaring return to her list for 2013!
