Keith Urban Opens Up About His Throat Surgery Recovery

We’re thrilled to hear that he’s doing so well!
To recap – back in November, we learned that Keith Urban was scheduled to have throat surgery to get rid of a polyp that had developed on his vocal chords.
Earlier today, we were very pleased to hear that Keith had scheduled his triumphant post-surgery return to the stage for February 3rd at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee!
Now, Keith has opened up about the recovery process he went through following his surgery. Here’s what he had to say about it:

“I had this operated on and you have to [go] three weeks [with] no talking, no uttering a sound, and you can├óΓé¼Γäót cry, you can├óΓé¼Γäót sneeze, you can├óΓé¼Γäót cough, you can├óΓé¼Γäót clear your throat. It was a strange three weeks, but I had a dream one night ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ it was the strangest thing ’cause I thought, ‘What├óΓé¼Γäós my voice gonna sound like when I hear it the first time again?'”
“I woke up the next morning and I called the doctor and [asked], ‘Would it be possible that I could sing in my sleep?’ ’cause you can├óΓé¼Γäót, you├óΓé¼Γäóre not allowed to, and I was terrified that I was singing in my sleep, singing Leo Sayer songs.”

And here’s Keith on the difficulties of not being able to speak with his wife Nicole Kidman for three weeks:

├óΓé¼┼ôNot being able to talk for three weeks, that├óΓé¼Γäós a long time. If you have to engage in some sort of heated discussion, the other person can talk and I just have to write.”

Sounds like it was definitely not easy, but we’re so glad that he’s been SO strong and recovered SO well!
Good luck getting back out there, Keith! We know U’ll do great!
