Kelly Rowland has been doing a lot of explaining lately.
Though she’s continued to air out her Dirty Laundry, it seems the former Destiny’s Child singer has also been overwhelmed by the track’s highly personal message.
The singer explained her motivations behind going public with such private matters, including her jealousy of Beyoncé, to Kelson of 93.9 WKYS radio. She said:
“It was a form of therapy and I feel like everybody has their version of Dirty Laundry. And it├óΓé¼Γäós nothing to be ashamed of because you├óΓé¼Γäóre supposed to grown and learn from it like I did. It was the place that I was in├óΓé¼┬ªI was so young. My head was completely gone. That├óΓé¼Γäós what happened with my sister. What matters to me most is what we have. I├óΓé¼Γäóm so grateful for what we have as sisters├óΓé¼┬ªaway from Destiny├óΓé¼Γäós Child.”
Thankfully, Kelly├óΓé¼Γäós bond with Beyonce is stronger than ever. Upon playing the track for her Destiny├óΓé¼Γäós Child cohort, Kelly revealed that Queen Bey had the most ‘endearing’ response:
“It was endearing. It was, ‘I never left,’ which was so sweet! Yeah, it was endearing and it was real. She was just like ‘I’m so proud of you.”
Kelly also gave some insight into her emotional Washington DC performance:
“It’s really weird when you take yourself in front of a crowd. Even in that moment of when I put my feet up, I felt like I was in therapy. I was singing and talking about what happened, and for a moment, it was like that crowd wasn’t even there. And then when the music stopped…I was like ‘You are live Kel. Calm down.’ And I had to calm down, and in the moment, I had to breathe. You get lost…and it’s nothing wrong with getting lost. But that was weird. That won’t happen again though [laughs]. I felt like I could do that with D.C.”
Aww!! We’re actually overcome with some tears ourselves!
Despite everything, it sounds like you’ve got your priorities straight, Kelly!
