Kenan Thompson ain’t making bank on Saturday Night Live, either!
In a New York Magazine video celebrating the series’ 50th anniversary earlier this month, several stars were asked what their “biggest splurge” was after getting their first paycheck. They all agreed they weren’t making nearly enough to do anything extravagant, with Pete Davidson laying it out:
“My biggest indulgence after my first SNL paycheck? Do you guys know what they pay us? It’s like three grand an episode. I think I got dinner.”
Just “three grand an episode”? In NEW YORK CITY? Damn!!

Now, perhaps even more shocking, Kenan, who joined the sketch show back in 2003 and is the longest-tenured performer in its history, just implied he’s making chump change, too! He told Variety in an interview published on Friday:
“It’s pretty notorious that it’s more so about having the job than getting paid for the job. You gotta pay your dues a little bit, yeah.”
Yeah, but is HE still paying his dues… after twenty years?! If so, that’s wild! Guess it’s more about getting to brag about being on SNL and enjoying the other opportunities the time in the spotlight might provide than cashing out. But this sure gives us a whole new outlook on the show!
