We have our new Super Bowl Halftime Show performer, y’all!
On Sunday, the official Instagram accounts for the NFL, Apple Music, Roc Nation, and NFL on Fox revealed in a joint post that Kendrick Lamar is set to headline Super Bowl LIX! See (below):
And in a video Kendrick posted shortly after, the Not Like Us rapper encouraged fans to wear their Sunday best when he takes center stage at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans in February. He said:
“My name is Kendrick Lamar and I’ll be performing at Super Bowl LIX. Will you be pulling up? I hope so. You know there’s only one opportunity to win a championship. No round 2s. Let’s get it!”
Is it just us, or was that a subtle shot at Drake?? The 17-time Grammy winner has undoubtedly had a historic year in his career amid his beef with the God’s Plan rapper, so we can see why the NFL thought he’d be a popular pick. He continued:
“Meet me in New Orleans February 9, 2025. Wear your best dress, too — even if you’re watching from home.”

Seth Dudowsky, the NFL’s head of music, gushed over the Money Trees rapper in a statement shortly after:
“We’re excited to collaborate with Kendrick, Roc Nation and Apple Music to deliver another unforgettable Halftime Show. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”
Jay-Z, who founded Roc Nation, also spoke out about the announcement in a statement of his own:
“Kendrick is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”
As for Kendrick, himself, he shared:
“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
We guess we’ll just have to see if he truly is “the right one”! Drake does have a lot more hits, though! Just sayin’!
This will mark the Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe rapper’s second time performing at the Super Bowl. He was previously a featured artist during the 2022 Halftime Show alongside Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige.
