Kim Kardashian just got SUPER candid about why she called it quits from Kanye West.
In Thursday’s new episode of The Kardashians, Khloé Kardashian caught her sister and mom Kris Jenner up on her reunion with her ex-husband Lamar Odom. She said while she “got married way too quickly,” she also “wouldn’t change a thing” about her decision:
“That was the love of my life. And if it wasn’t for drugs, I know we would still be married ’til today. I know I picked the right person at that time. None of us knew he was on drugs until it was at least a year in. That’s what was so terrifying.”
Kim knew exactly what that felt like! She doesn’t often talk about why she had to leave Kanye — presumably to protect the father of her children. But clearly referencing her messy divorce from the rapper, the American Horror Story star shared:
“That’s the hardest part. I’ve been there. When you don’t foresee something happening that really changes a person’s personality and then they’re not the same person and you can’t ever get that person back, but you can’t live with the new person. I get it.”
Oof.
She didn’t say what changed in her own relationship, but she filed for divorce from the Yeezy designer in 2021 after a series of challenges as the artist struggled with his bipolar diagnosis. Everything from Twitter rants to an unsuccessful run for president were causing turmoil in the relationship at the time. This could certainly be what she was referencing about his changed personality.

In a confessional, the SKIMS founder opened up about how this kind of split is so difficult to get over, adding:
“It’s tougher when you don’t want your marriage to end off of personal reasons but circumstances change that force your marriage to end. When you weren’t planning on that and that’s not really the outcome you want but there’s no other option, I think it makes it harder to get over.”
A bummer — but we bet seeing Ye’s erratic behavior continue to this day must make it easier for her to stay firm in her decision to leave! There’s not much to second-guess!
Innerestingly, Kim’s comments come just as news has broken Thursday that Ye and his current wife Bianca Censori have broken up, too! Amid the Heartless vocalist’s latest string of antisemitic rants and problematic behavior — pretty similar to what was going on at the time of Kim’s split — reports surfaced that the couple have broken up and are seeking a divorce. Whoa! This seems to be an unfortunate pattern for the Grammy winner.
