Kim Kardashian Quietly Helped Free 17 Low-Level Drug Offenders In The Past Three Months!

Kim Kardashian frees low-level drug offenders

Kim Kardashian West is serious about this lawyer thing — way more serious than we ever knew, even though we’ve been tracking her impressive rise in the legal world!
The KUWTK star hasn’t just been studying the law as part of an apprenticeship to one day become a lawyer… she has been assisting a team of lawyers along the way, and it turns out that over the past three months, she has helped free 17 prisoners who had been serving life sentences for low-level, non-violent drug offenses. Amazing!!!

The cases are broadly similar in context to that of Alice Marie Johnson; run by a group called the 90 Days of Freedom Campaign, and initially launchd by Kim’s lawyer Brittany K. Barnett, the organization basically puts into work the First Step Act — an act signed by President Donald Trump last year to try to ease the burden on non-violent prisoners who have been given life without parole or other remarkably harsh sentences.
The mother of three obviously can’t practice law herself, quite yet, but she’s been assisting Barnett and other lawyers where possible as she learns the nuances of the law and goes through her apprenticeship.
Oh, and she’s putting her money where her mouth is, literally: she’s been footing the bill for the whole project, secretly funding the campaign over the last three months as it tries to roll back major incarceration injustices. If that doesn’t show that she’s committed to the cause…

Changing Lives!

This isn’t about Kim, though. She’s not even publicizing her work here — it’s more about the families reunited after offenders are mercifully released from these impossibly long prison sentences. The stories themselves clearly make for a powerful and emotional reminder about why everyone involved is doing what they do. These are just a small handful of their stories…
Jamelle Carraway, who served 11 years of a life sentence in federal prison after being arrested at 31 for possessing cocaine. Now, he’s living and working in Illinois with family nearby as he transitions back to society.
Eric Balcom was given a life sentence on a drug possession charge when he was 29 years old, and after serving 16 years of that sentence in federal prison, he’s now back home in Florida re-integrating into life as a free man.

Maybe most emotionally, 50-year-old Terrence Byrd is finally free after spending half his life in federal prison after being convicted of drug possession. Half his life! For possession, not even any drug dealing/intent to distribute charges! Thankfully he’s free now, and most amazingly, according to media reports, he’s been reunited with his 96-year-old grandmother — the woman who raised him as a boy.
So heartwarming!
And so inspiring — Kim K. really is out here making changes in society! Her ten-year plan is going to be incredible to watch unfold.
