King Charles' SHOCKING Reaction To Prince Andrew's Disastrous Jeffrey Epstein Interview Revealed!

The journalist who sat down with Prince Andrew for his disastrous interview about his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein is opening up about what King Charles III had to say about it!

As Perezcious readers know, back in 2019, the Duke of York appeared on a Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis amid allegations that he had sexually assaulted one of Epstein alleged trafficking victims, Virginia Giuffre, including when she was just 17 years old. This was, of course, before he ended up settling the lawsuit against him, and the whole thing kinda led to his downfall in the royal realm.

Netflix already released a film based on the saga called Scoop and a new series is coming to Amazon Prime later this week called A Very Royal Scandal. While promoting the show, the journalist told Radio Times this week, per GB News on Tuesday, that the series will delve into the fallout of that infamous chat — both from her perspective AND that of the royal family.

She dished:

“While the prince is grappling with a world that has suddenly spun out of his control — where he is being overmanaged by PR teams, with ever-more frustrating results — the journalists are asking themselves if they’ve achieved anything more than a ‘meme moment.’ There is no trial, no extradition, no apology and no closure.”

While there may not have been the kind of “closure” some may have wanted, it turns out this chat likely influenced a LOT behind the scenes! Emily revealed that Andrew’s brother, the current monarch, had a REALLY heated reaction to the interview!! She recalled:

“One month after the interview aired, I was taken aside by someone close to [then] Prince Charles and told — somewhat cryptically — that ‘HRH was not unhappy with the interview’. The comment stunned me. In the years since, I have returned to that one line so many times in my head, trying to fathom the meaning in the message.”

OMG!

“Not unhappy”?! That’s a wild thing to admit!

It’s not shocking to think the royal family wouldn’t have liked the interview. We mean, the whole thing was a s**t show, and being associated with a sex offender made them look terrible! But for Charles to be pleased with his brother’s terrible media move? Yikes!!

At the time, the reporter remembered thinking:

“Was I being told that the man who would ascend to the throne just three years later as our king was perhaps relieved that this exchange had taken place? Use the opportunity to reorder the monarchy in a way that befitted these times?”

Well, flash forward a bit and she thinks her theory was spot on! The 75-year-old has since opted for a “streamlined, slimmed-down institution” — and Andrew’s been largely kicked to the curb. So, it looks like the media blunder just made his job easier! Oof! Addressing Andrew’s downfall, Emily told the BBC:

“[In] some respect everything changed for Prince Andrew. He lost his royal duties. He lost the ability to wear uniform. He lost the respect, you know, of the nation and became, I think, much more difficult for him in his place in the Royal Family.”

That’s for sure!

While Charles hasn’t completely shunned his controversial sibling over the years, it does seem like this scandal really drove a wedge between them. Wow.
