Kourtney Kardashian wasn’t planning on things going like this.
The 43-year-old reality TV star and her loving husband Travis Barker are the subjects of a wedding special that is streaming on Hulu right now. The new show called ‘Til Death Do Us Part centers on their May 2022 wedding in Portofino, Italy, and offers fans an incredible glimpse into their love story and big day. And yet in the heartwarming show, Kourt readily admits how a wedding was not originally in the cards for her after the sad death of her father.

The admission came about early in the special. In a touching moment, the Poosh founder received a very meaningful gift from her mom Kris Jenner: the wedding ring the momager received from Kourt’s father, the late Robert Kardashian Sr., when they first got married way back in 1978.
Kris gave Kourtney the gift on the day of the couple’s rehearsal dinner. On the special, Kourt revealed that to little sis Khloé Kardashian, saying:
“Wait, look, Mom just gave me her ring that was from Dad.”
Wow!
As Perezcious readers will recall, Kris and Robert Sr. were married from 1978 through 1991. Their marriage produced daughters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloé, and son Rob before the couple chose to divorce. The breakup was painful for the kids, but the real tragedy came a little over a decade later. In July 2003, Robert Sr. was diagnosed with esophageal cancer — and two months later, at just 59 years old, he passed away.
That heartbreak moved Kourtney to never want to get married, as she revealed on this new special. And there was a specific reason for her resistance to marriage, too. Speaking with her husband-to-be about Kris’ gift, the mom of three said:
“When my dad died, I remember thinking, ‘I never want to get married because my dad isn’t there to walk me down the aisle,’ so that gift meant so much.”
The Blink-182 drummer agreed, adding:
“It was amazing.”
That it was. Great move, Kris!

Elsewhere in the wedding special, Kourtney noted how her new husband reminds her of her late dad “in the weirdest ways.” The interior design aficionado explained:
“My dad would have loved Travis, and Travis reminds me so much of my dad in the weirdest ways. I can’t even explain them. I felt his presence, and I think I felt just like a sense of calm. I just felt so good. I was like, ‘I’m ready.’ It just felt perfect.”
Awww!
Travis also experienced losing a parent early in his life — his mother died back when he was a teenager. In the special, the rock star revealed how he relied on her strength and memory to find meaning in the emotional ceremony, too:
“Before I even saw her, I felt emotional. I’m like, ‘s**t, it’s about to go down. I know I’m not going to be able to say my vows without crying.’ But I felt reassured that it was absolutely the right thing. From the moment I left that room [to walk the aisle], I was teary-eyed. I was having conversations with my mom and praying.”
And during the couple’s reception after tying the knot, Travis acknowledged Robert Sr. as part of his speech:
“Robert, I know you’re here in spirit and so proud.”
Love that!
Through it all, Kravis was clearly connecting on another level. At one point in the special, Kourt gushed:
“It feels like everything was meant to be.”
Travis added his own remark about fate, too. He called the ceremony a “full circle” moment and added:
“We still have these moments where it’s like… can you believe this is the same friend that I used to workout with or go to museums with? I married her. We got married. For me, it felt real now.”
So amazing!
