Liam Payne once had a very uncomfortable encounter with Diddy…
As Perezcious readers know, the former One Direction member passed away on Wednesday after jumping from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires. The news shocked and devastated so many fans. Since then, people have been revisiting his old performances and interviews, mostly out of love. But this subject… this one is causing a different kind of interest.

In a resurfaced interview with KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O in 2017, Liam recalled how he met Diddy at a party — and the interaction scared him! What! Here’s what happened…
The Strip That Down artist explained Diddy was with JAY-Z and Leonardo DiCaprio during the event. He wanted to introduce himself to the three a-listers but didn’t know how to go about it at first. After thinking about it, he eventually decided the Bad Boy Records founder was the most approachable one out of the trio. It turns out that was wrong — way wrong! He continued at the time:
“I went over to speak to him and Jay-Z and as I shook his hand he just chuckled… [he had] the most evil laugh I’ve ever heard. So, I’m a little bit fearful of that man. It was like the most daunting celebrity experience that you could ever imagine. I thought P Diddy was a safe bet. Obviously I missed the mark a little bit.”
Whoa. He didn’t say when this party occurred — or if it was thrown by the now-disgraced music mogul. However, Liam recounted the same story that same year on The Graham Norton Show and further shared why the whole exchange was super awkward. It apparently had to do with the handshake. The singer noted Diddy also held his hand for a long amount of time as he laughed his evil laugh. Liam even called it “the longest handshake ever!” So weird. He added:
“I sat there looking in P. Diddy’s eyes like ‘When is this going to end?”
Of course, now these two interviews are chilling as Diddy was arrested and charged this year with sex trafficking and racketeering. Since then, we’ve heard so many more disturbing allegations. So Liam, as it turns out, had a very good reason to be “fearful” of this man… Watch the whole Graham Norton interview (below):
