Liam Payne Had ‘Tense’ Argument With Mystery Woman Over Money Prior To Death, Says Eyewitness

More information is coming out about the moments leading to Liam Payne’s tragic death.

The One Direction alum seemed to be in a compromised state prior to his sudden and shocking death at just 31 years old on Wednesday. As we’ve been following, he was staying at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina when he jumped from the balcony of his 4th story room. Multiple witnesses perceived the Strip That Down singer to be acting “erratic” in the moments before his death, with some claiming he seemed “high” or “intoxicated.” And the white powder and drug paraphernalia found in his room only fuel the speculation. Sadly, we won’t have a toxicology report for a while, but new information has emerged about some of his possible final dealings.

As we know, Liam arrived in the city on September 30 with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy. The two were there for Niall Horan’s concert, but Kate left early on October 14. Liam then checked into a room at the CasaSur hotel, and things seemingly just went downhill. We now know Kate left after a “heated” argument because they pair had been away for a long time and Kate wanted to return home to her dog, but Liam apparently “begged” her to stay. When she wouldn’t oblige, he became super “moody” and she took off. He was subsequently spotted at the hotel partying with two mystery women just hours before his death. Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office said they were questioning the women who “had been with the musician in his room,” but don’t seem to believe there was any foul play. But according to an eyewitness, he and one of the women had a “very tense” argument before things got deadly.

American tourist Michael Fleishmann told the Buenos Aires Herald on Thursday he heard Liam and the mystery woman haggling over money in the lobby. The Teardrops singer allegedly told her:

“I’ll give you $20,000 just because I can. I have $55 million and I like to help people.”

According to Michael, the woman was speaking in Spanish and a hotel employee was translating for Liam, who “seemed very upset, agitated, a little wild, walking around and pacing,” and appeared to be “very energized.” Michael’s mother Toni who was also apparently there added:

“It just looked like she was extremely uncomfortable with him, and a little apprehensive. It was just my son, me, Liam Payne, the woman and the staff. The manager was trying to politely intervene or calm him down. There was a feeling of anxiety in the area.”

The mother and son said they ultimately shared an elevator with Liam and later saw the woman outside of the hotel on her phone. According to news outlet La Nación, she and the other mystery women, both reportedly 25, were individuals Liam met through an escort website. The outlet reported the young women told local law enforcement officials they “left prior to 4 p.m. from Payne’s room [and] left the actual hotel around that time because there was a problem, as Payne did not want to pay them.”

As we know, Liam sadly died soon after at around 5:00 p.m. The women were not named, but they’re both reportedly cooperating with cops. A source told the outlet:

“The witnesses were cooperative. Not only with their declarations, but they also gave us access to their cellphones.”

This all continues to be so tragic. And we’re sure extremely difficult for Kate to wrap her mind around.
