Liam Payne ‘Looked Healthy’ & ‘Showed No Signs’ Of Any Issues While Filming Netflix Show Weeks Before His Tragic Death

What was Liam Payne like on the set of Building The Band? A new source is sharing some new insight!

Before his tragic death earlier this month, the 31-year-old singer filmed the new Netflix show with AJ McLean, Kelly Rowland, and Nicole Scherzinger over the summer. It is one of the last projects Liam worked on that sadly may never see the light of day — but is it for a good reason? A source who knew the One Direction alum claimed friends and colleagues were “shocked” when they found out his manager booked him to star as a judge for the series. Why? He had just left rehab and was in “no shape” to work yet.

Given Liam struggled with his mental health and addiction over the years, something he did not keep a secret, those close to him questioned if Netflix and producers from Remarkable Entertainment even tried to determine if he “was in a fit state of health mentally and physically to film the series.” Whether producers did any digging? That’s not yet known! But they did have him film the whole thing! Maybe he really was still doing fine?

Remember, Liam was on drugs in the days before he died, that much is certain. But he was reportedly sober when he arrived in Argentina two weeks earlier. So it makes sense he was fine on the set of Building The Band, right?

On Wednesday, a source for People confirmed it, insisting there were zero behavioral problems with Liam during filming. He was a model employee, it sounds like! In fact, they said he “looked healthy” and “happy” while working on the show! Basically, the complete opposite of that report claiming he was in “no shape” to work!

In fact, the Teardrops artist enjoyed the whole experience so much he wanted to continue to aid the bands after production ended! Wow! A staff member who was on set in late August shared with the outlet:

“Liam seemed so genuinely happy to be on set. He looked healthy, and was smiling in all his fan interactions, signing things and chatting with them between takes. He was having a great time doing what he loved, and showed no signs of any underlying issues.”

The staffer added that Liam was willing to help the contestants any way he could through feedback and taking an interest in their development. That’s amazing. Considering he was part of one of the biggest boy bands ever and went through the singing competition process before, we bet he had a lot of helpful advice for the competitors. Now, it just breaks our hearts he won’t be able to continue what he seemed to love so much.

And whether we’ll at least get to see the great work Liam did before his death is unclear — the show’s fate is still up in the air. The source told People producers were surprised and upset about Liam’s passing and felt it was too soon to decide what would happen with it. Well, we hope they don’t just shelve it forever. It would be a shame for all of Liam’s joyous final weeks of work to go to waste.
