On Monday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Panini musician divulged what inspired him to speak out about his sexuality.

He told the comedian:

“Just knowing it was something that I should have [already] done… But I was [previously] in a position where I had to worry about family and friends and how they would react. But in the past year, I’m on a new level, so it doesn’t really matter, I guess.”

The 20-year-old added:

“And, also just how it would be good for the youngins listening to me right now, who are going to have to go through stuff like this in the future, to know that it’s all right.”

A month before his revealing tweet, the rapper told his father and sister to give them both a “heads up.”

In regards to his love life, the artist — born Montero Lamar Hill — said he is “somewhat” in a relationship. We need details!!

In his coming-out tweet, Nas penned:

“some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure. ??✨

In his song C7osure (You Like), he spits:

Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow / No more red light for me, baby, only green, I gotta go / Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take ahold / This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old

He continued:

Brand new places I’ll choose and I’ll go, I know / Embracin’ this news I behold unfolding / I know, I know, I know it don’t feel like it’s time / But I look back at this moment, I’ll see that I’m fine / I know, I know, I know it don’t feel like it’s time / I set boundaries for myself, it’s time to cross the line / True say, I want and I need / To let go, use my time to be free

During his appearance on the hit daytime talk show, Nas got the scare of his life when a Billy Ray Cyrus-lookalike pops out of a box!

Of course, Miley Cyrus‘ dad appeared on the Old Town Road remix!
