Couple Opens Their Little Caesars Pizza To Find PEPPERONI SWASTIKA

Little Caesars Pizza Swastika

What’s the worst topping you can put on a pizza? We’ll give you a hint: it’s not pineapple or anchovies or black olives. No, we’re talking about something really controversial.

An Ohio couple brought home a pie from Little Caesars only to find it adorned with a swastika made from pepperoni slices. Jason Laska tells local ABC affiliate News 5 in Cleveland, he was running an errand for his wife when he decided to pick up a Hot ‘N’ Ready:

“I walked in. I said, ‘What do you guys have left?’ And they said a pepperoni and a cheese and I said, ‘Give me the pepperoni.'”

Jason says he didn’t look in the box until he got home — and when he and his wife did, it was anything but mouth-watering. Misty Laska recalls:

“I look at it like with my head back a little and I’m like, ‘Oh My God.'”

Misty posted a photo of the offending pizza right away to the world’s biggest complaint department — Twitter.

More like No Thanks, No Thanks!

Or Nazi Pizzas F**k Off…

Clearly Little Caesars saw the post. Jason says he was contacted by both the corporate offices and the franchise owner — who tried to shed some light on what happened:

“Two of the employees kind of were, I guess, egging each other on, or one was egging the other on to play a joke on a third employee that was there. That was why it was not cut or anything like that. They made it as a joke and it was never intended to go out to a customer, but it did.”

It may have been intended as a joke, but this sort of thing isn’t funny — certainly not in a time when white supremacists and actual freakin’ Nazis are actually on the rise again. The Anti-Defamation League found in their annual report last month that antisemitic acts hit an all-time high in 2019. Unfortunately, this is all too real.

Little Caesar Enterprises, Inc. treated this just as seriously, firing the two employees responsible and releasing a written statement denouncing any kind of racism:

“We have zero tolerance for racism and discrimination in any form, and these franchise store employees were immediately terminated. We’re deeply disappointed that this happened, as this conduct is completely against our values. We have also reached out to the customer to discuss this personally with him.”

The employees are apparently both under the age of 18. It does seem like this was just a terrible, stupid joke — the Nazi swastika ends point right, not left, so we’re guessing they weren’t exactly true believers. Hopefully they learn how painful this kind of thing can be and to never do something like this again.

All we can do is hope.
