logo tv does not seem to have rupauls back especially after he defended his use of anti transgender slur
Did this television personality shoot himself in the foot with these latest comments?
RuPaul Charles, host of the popular show RuPaul├óΓé¼Γäós Drag Race, recently was on Marc Maron‘s popular podcast where he defended his use of words such as “tranny.”
The subject was brought up by Marc Maron most likely because of the controversy that has followed RuPaul after he and other contestants used the term “she-male.”
Here’s what he said in that interview:

“Does the word ‘tranny’ bother me? No. I love the word ‘tranny’. Don’t you dare tell me what I can do or what I can say. It’s just words. Yeah, words do hurt. ‘Words hurt me.’ You know what? Bitch, you need to get stronger. You really do. Because you know what? If you think, if you’re upset by something I said, you have bigger problems than you think. I’m telling you this.”

Logo TV, which airs RuPaul’s show, has since responded to those comments, and it appears they are NOT backing RuPaul up!
A spokesperson for Logo TV recently said:

“These comments did not come from Logo. We are committed to supporting the entire LGBT community and will not feature any anti-trans rhetoric on our shows.”

GLAAD has previously expressed their concern over the transphobic terms used on RuPaul’s show, and said they worked with Logo TV to make sure they were on the same page in terms of not airing such remarks in the future. GLAAD has not commented on RuPaul’s latest remarks so far.
It’s a bit ironic since RuPaul’s whole rant on WTF With Marc Maron dealt with the subject of censorship and his feelings on the matter, and it appears that aforementioned rant could in fact lead to more censorship of what RuPaul can and cannot say in public.
