Viral 'Lose Yo Job' Woman Sees Life Completely Turn Around After Video Hits Social Media!

The viral 'Lose Yo Job' woman had her life turned around thanks to the video!

In just four months’ time, Johnniqua Charles has become a cultural icon!

The 27-year-old native of Dillon, South Carolina was homeless, struggling with addiction, and estranged from her family members. Then, one night in February, she had an altercation with a security guard outside a gentleman’s club in her small town… and crazy enough, it changed her life!

Charles, who had apparently been asked to leave by the club’s security at some point in the night, was still at the establishment after it closed because she’d accidentally left her purse inside. Fed up with her refusal to leave until she got her purse, a pair of security officers eventually detained her for trespassing.

One of the officers’ body cameras wasn’t working that night, so he videotaped the entire incident while his partner, a man named Julius Locklear, held Charles. That’s when things got crazy — and memorable — for both parties thanks to the video clip!

Frustrated by Locklear’s insistence on detaining her and transferring her over to the police on the trespassing charge, Johnniqua began to vent — via song. And with that, the You About To Lose Yo Job song was born, as you can see (below):

LOLz!!!

Originally shared by Locklear on Facebook just days after it happened back in February, Charles’ ad-libbed song was immediately a catchy hit. As she dances around while cuffed, the young woman sings (below):

“Why are you detaining me? You about to lose yo job. You about to lose yo job. You about to lose yo job. Get this dance! You about to lose yo job ‘cause you are detaining me for nothing.”

If you look closely in the video, you can see Locklear himself turning away from Charles to smile about the situation, too. At the time, he found it as funny as everyone else does now — as he confirmed in a social media post months ago about the clip.

The security guard wrote:

“Okay IM NOT POSTING THIS TO BE FUNNY TOWARDS THIS SUBJECT!!! I’m posting it cause that rap was lit like I wish I could put a beat to it lol. I just let her vent, and exercise her freedom of speech. The situation had nothing to do with race or discrimination. You can see me handling it professionally and trying to keep a straight face, but I couldn’t.”

And if things had ended there, well, it would’ve been funny enough.

But now, four months later, the clip is EVERYWHERE!!! Its existence timed up perfectly with these past two weeks of nationwide protests against police brutality and overreach, with the catchy tune providing some laughs during this difficult time. Its lyrics have even been used on signs seen at protests and several popular DJs have already produced remixes that have predictably gone viral.

Johnniqua and her sister Andrea are dumbfounded at the clip’s spread — especially in how it’s taken off now four months after the incident itself. Still, it’s proven to be a life-changing experience for the young mom, who has reconnected with estranged family members who had been looking for her during her tough time living day to day without a fixed address.

Sensing the opportunity all the attention could bring to her sister, Andrea realized the whole thing could benefit the woman who’d been down on her luck for too long, even turning to sex work at times to survive. Andrea told BuzzFeed News about their work setting up a GoFundMe and selling t-shirts for Johnniqua:

“At first I didn’t think much of [the video], but then I got on Instagram and I saw even more people saying, ‘Who is this woman?’ So I was like, OK, this is an opportunity for my sister to be known. If the world wants to know who she is, why not let the world know who she is? The only reason that the GoFundMe and those platforms were created were people were begging to donate to her. Once I made her Instagram, people were flooding in, saying, ‘How can I bless her? She just blessed my day so much. She just made my day.’ So the only reason it was created was so people could bless her life.”

Incredible!!!

Johnniqua herself has been at a loss for words, adding:

“I’m just overwhelmed, and I’m such a humble person [that] to see that, it’s just amazing to me. I’m just glad that it’s something so positive. Other people keep telling me I helped them so much, but they don’t understand — nobody understands — how much this video going viral like this is helping me, because it’s giving me the breakthrough I so badly needed for so long.”

Awww! That’s so sweet — and so wonderful to hear she’s turning things around!

Recently, the young mom and viral video star sat down on Instagram Live (and briefly showed off her son, Juju!) to do a Q&A session about the video, the incident, and her life:

Love it! Talk about making the most out of a crazy, unexpected situation.

Here’s to Johnniqua enjoying her newfound fame and continuing to get her life back on track! Future’s bright!
