Luann de Lesseps is getting real about falling short of her ultimate sobriety goal — but to hear her tell it, it sure sounds like she’s owning up to her shortcomings!
The Real Housewives of New York City star admitted on Thursday in an exclusive statement released to People that although she may not be perfect in her battle with alcohol addiction, she’s committed to seeking and following through with treatment.

It all started earlier yesterday, when the mag obtained a copy of a document filed with the Florida Department of Corrections which stated the reality TV star had apparently TWICE violated the terms of her probation: once by not providing documentation that she was completing AA meetings, and another time by failing an alcohol test days earlier, on April 21.
Speaking to the mag, the RHONY star released the following statement in response to the court docs, acknowledging the trouble she’s been having in trying to stay clean (below):
“I take my sobriety very seriously and like many in my situation, it is a daily struggle. I remain committed to doing whatever it takes to continue living a healthy sober lifestyle.”
In response to the probation violations, the court docs stated that cops have offered a few things to de Lesseps to make it more realistic for her to successfully complete the mandated terms of her probation.
The docs read (below):
“[De Lesseps] offered to immediately enroll in outpatient treatment and she declined due to her touring schedule. The subject was also given the option to be fitted with an alcohol ankle monitoring device in which she declined stated that it is too intrusive.”
Noting that Luann had apparently denied the options at every turn, though, as in the two instances (above), the docs made it clear that law enforcement officials were none too pleased with de Lesseps’ dragging of her feet:
“It appears to affiant that the subject is not serious about her sobriety of the orders of the court. In order to effectively address [her] current relapse, de Lesseps has to be ‘available’ to participate.”
Wow! Telling it like it is!!!

Nevertheless, a source close to the reality TV star reiterated to the media what Luann herself has said — that she IS committed to getting better and getting clean, no matter how much time it may take (below):
“Luann takes this all very seriously. She’s remained positive and hopeful along this journey, and has already completed her community service and her MADD course. She continues to attend AA meetings on a regular basis, too. Her friends are all continuing to rally behind her, and know that sobriety is one day at a time.”
There’s no question Luann has really been through it recently — but if she’s really committed to owning up to her shortcomings and facing down her battle with this relentless addiction head-on, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel for her yet!
