Paul Templer was a travel guide who used to take tourists down the Zambezi River.
While in Zimbabwe, when leading a kayak tour group down the river near Victoria Falls, there was a hippo attack.
The hippo overturned the kayak of one of his clients.
As he went to help the tourist, he was suddenly attacked himself.
Before he knew what was going on, he realized he was headfirst, down the throat of a hippo!!
He was held underwater, in the hippo’s mouth, from the waist up, his legs free to thrash about outside the hippo.
That seriously must have been the most terrifying thing ever.
He ended up severely injured, but only had to lose his left arm from the elbow down.
Since then, he has a new lease on life and is back at guiding tours!
