Matthew Perry has a dream! A Field of Dreams that is!
The former Friends actor recently became involved with the Go The Distance Baseball group, an organization that bought the rights to the baseball field from Kevin Costner‘s famous flick back in 2011. Now, they’re looking to build another diamond next door to host training camps and tournaments for national youth baseball!
Sounds like a great idea, right?
Well apparently the local farmers are worried that if they build it, people will come!
The Residential & Agricultural Advisory Committee in Dubuque County, Iowa have expressed major concerns as they believe the traffic brought in from the project will bring in noise pollution and make it difficult to do their jobs.
The group even sent a letter to Matt simply stating:
“It is no exaggeration to say that our very way of life is at risk.”
We can definitely see where both sides are coming from. It sounds like the local kids can benefit from the project, but the farmers shouldn’t have to change their daily routine to work around construction or tourism.
Hopefully the two sides can come to some sort of agreement that works for everyone, because it sounds like a good idea to us!
