Mindy Kaling is yet again coming to her pal Meghan Markle‘s defense!
It’s no secret the internet has a lot of thoughts on the Duchess of Sussex. Sometimes, it feels like she just can’t do anything right!
Well, in the lead-up to her new Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, out early next month, Mindy got super candid about the biggest “misconception” about her royal friend! Speaking to Time on Wednesday, the comedian dished:
“I think a misconception about Meghan is that she’s in any way fussy or has expectations of fanciness. She really is a down-to-earth person who knows a lot of fun tricks to make entertaining and cooking easier.”

Mindy makes a cameo in the new cooking show, which she revealed centers on tips for throwing a children’s party, adding:
“I love cooking, but I’m really not good at entertaining. I don’t know anything about how you’re not supposed to use overhead lighting when people come over. You’re supposed to use little lamps. But Meghan just knows how to do that stuff.”
She continued:
“For kids’ parties, I usually just go to the party supply store and get paper things, which I don’t judge and neither does she. But it was fun to learn simple ways to do a homemade kids’ party.”
The Mindy Project star was “on maternity leave” when Prince Harry‘s wife called her up and wondered if she’d want to get involved. She called it “a fun maternity leave field trip” and just what she needed at the time. She concluded:
“I left with a basket of fresh produce and homemade jam and hot sauce because she knew I loved hot sauce. She’s a very generous woman who knew I needed a break.”
Sweet!
This new lifestyle series is going to very telling! Because while Mindy might not think the Suits alum is “fussy,” she’s certainly been slapped with that label thanks to all her ex-employees who have spoken out over the years to call her a difficult boss. Plus, all the claims of how complicated she could be from palace insiders.
There are already critics who think her series seems too polished to show off the real her. Not to mention it’s set in the ritzy town of Montecito, so certainly there’s going to be a level of “fanciness” to it! So, we’ll see when it airs if we can see this “down-to-earth” version of Meg!
Reactions? Do U believe that Meghan is as “down-to-earth” as Mindy thinks? Sound OFF (below)!
