Ugh… here we go again…
Ever since Meghan Markle became part of the royal family, her estranged father has had a closer relationship with the press than with her.
Despite the fact Thomas Markle reportedly hasn’t been in touch with his daughter since her wedding, he’s pretty much never missed an opportunity to (publicly) weigh in on her life.

Here’s what he has to say this time around about what she and Prince Harry are up to:
“This is the worst time in the world for them to be whining and complaining about anything — because people everywhere are suffering due to the coronavirus pandemic. I love my daughter but I really don’t appreciate what she’s become right now.”
How would he know what she’s like though..?
The comments were prompted by the upcoming publication of the royal biography Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of A Modern Family. Representatives for the Sussexes have said Meghan and Harry had nothing to do with the tell-all, but apparently having a book written about you counts as whining for Mr. Markle? Honestly we don’t know what else he’s talking about.
The 76-year-old also insinuated the Suits alum was a hypocrite after the Finding Freedom reveal that she used to work with paparazzi to get publicity in her pre-Harry days. The actress famously fell out with her dad after some staged pap shots before the royal wedding.
Markle also reacted to the book’s report that Archie’s parents “rejected” an offer of protection for her father in the early days of their courtship. He told The Sun:
“The fact the royals advised them to get me help and they refused to do it is incredible news.”
However, legal documents obtained by TMZ prove the Duke and Duchess did offer Thomas security multiple times in the lead-up to their nuptials. Some of the 38-year-old’s texts to her father included:
“I’ve been reaching out to you all weekend but you’re not taking any of our calls or replying to any texts… Very concerned about your health and safety and have taken every measure to protect you but not sure what more we can do if you don’t respond…Do you need help? Can we send the security team down again? I’m very sorry to hear you’re in the hospital but need you to please get in touch with us… What hospital are you at?”
The rift between father and daughter was solidified when Thomas failed to show up at the wedding and never responded to any of the texts begging him to come. Those messages are now part of Meg’s ongoing lawsuit against UK tabloids, which she claimed poisoned her relationship with her dad.

According to a source for Us Weekly, Thomas has been “continuing to try and get in contact” with Meghan since her move to LA. He’s apparently been “sending letters to her house,” but “the letters remain unopened.”
If he really wants to get in touch with her, he might consider not lashing out at her in the press, i.e., the very thing that damaged their relationship in the first place. Here’s hoping he learns to be better, for the sake of his daughter AND grandson.
