Meghan Markle has been dragged into the middle of Prince Harry‘s charity debacle!
Last week, the Duke of Sussex announced he and co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho regretfully had to resign from their roles at the charity Sentebale amid a feud between chairwoman Dr. Sophie Chandauka, who took the role in 2023, and the rest of the board of trustees. After the trustees tried to oust her, she fought back by suing them. They all decided to walk away — and the royals sided with the trustees. In response, Sophie slammed the organization for “abuse of power, bullying, harassment, misogyny,” among other things.

At first, she kept her comments vague, but in a follow-up interview this week, she called out Harry and Meghan’s alleged “toxic” behavior, claiming it’s the reason the charity has gone downhill. And now Meghan’s behavior has also been called to attention even more!
You might recall last April when the Suits alum stepped out with her friend Serena Williams at a polo competition. Her PDA-filled sighting was featured in Harry’s Netflix docuseries Polo, showing the couple was all smiles amid split rumors.
Well, it turns out there was some other drama at that event!
In a resurfaced video, the Duke and Duchess can be seen posing for photos with a trophy at the Royal Salute Polo Challenge with a large group. The chairwoman arrives and helps hold on to the trophy, initially positioning herself next to Harry. But Meghan, on the other side of her husband, asks her repeatedly:
“You want to come over here?”
Sophie eventually — VERY awkwardly — ducks under the trophy to switch positions so she is in the center next to the Suits alum. Harry and the others wouldn’t even let go of it so she could get past in a more dignified way. Jeez! Once she got to her new place, the With Love, Meghan star happily says, “Lovely.”
The whole thing has been slammed as “awkward” — with folks calling out both Meghan and Harry’s behavior, saying on X (Twitter):
“Meghan appears so rude”
“Harry’s the one who wouldn’t let go the trophy, thus making Sophie duck down in in a most ungraceful manner. Shame on you Henry. Your misguided sense of entitlement is showing.”
“Dr. Sophie has been bullied and harassed by Meghan and Harry. This is just a small glimpse into how badly she’s been treated. Guaranteed…”
“Disgraceful. Why is Markle even on the stage as she is nothing to do with Sentebale or polo. What exactly has she contributed to be centre stage which was her aim.”
Was Meghan simply trying to be nice and give Sophie a prime spot? Or was she trying to get her as far from Harry as possible? Hmm. See the moment HERE.
In an interview with Sky News‘ Sunday Morning on Sunday, Sophie recalled having no clue the mother of two was showing up, saying:
“We would have been really excited had we known ahead of time [Meghan was coming], but we didn’t.”
And because Meghan showed up with her tennis pro pal and a camera crew, there was even more chaos to deal with that day. This then threw off the whole photo op:
“And so the choreography went badly on stage because we had too many people on stage. The international press captured this, and there was a lot of talk about the Duchess and the choreography on stage and whether she should have been there and her treatment of me.”
Amid the backlash, Harry reportedly asked Sophie to release a statement “in support” of his wife — but she refused! Wait, he asked the lawyer to issue a statement over this? When SHE was the one seemingly treated poorly?? Whoa. She dished:
“Prince Harry asked me to issue some sort of a statement in support of the Duchess, and I said I wouldn’t. Not because I didn’t care about the Duchess, but because I knew what would happen if I did so, number one. And number two, because we cannot be an extension of the Sussexes.”
She believes if she’d spoken out, the actress likely would’ve experienced “worse trolling.” She’s probably not wrong. It would only have brought more attention to the controversy! Guess we shouldn’t be surprised at this point — Harry will do pretty much anything to stick up for his controversial spouse. But damn. Hearing and seeing all of this in light of the nasty new allegations isn’t great!
