How Melania REALLY Reacted To Donald Trump's 'Grab 'Em By The P***y' Tape

Melania Donald Trump Access Hollywood Tape Reaction Book

The already infamous Melania Trump tell-all dropped on Tuesday, and while we’ve probably already heard the biggest bombshell — that she forced Art Of The Deal business braggart Donald Trump to give her a better prenup to get her to move in to the White House — there are still more goodies left.

One? The real story behind what happened behind closed doors when that Access Hollywood tape dropped!

For those who don’t remember, the moment which nearly killed Trump’s presidential prospects was the leak of a hot mic audio in which the Celebrity Apprentice host bragged with Billy Bush about grabbing women he didn’t know “by the p***y” — a disgusting boast far too close to the sexual assault of which he had been accused by numerous women.

At the time, Melania excused her husband’s words as the “locker-room talk” he said it was — just boys being boys.

But according to author Mary Jordan, who interviewed over 100 people for The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump, the future First Lady’s immediate reaction was anything but supportive.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie noted the timestamp on the video and realizing it was from just after Donald and Melania got married. She was going to be furious, and Candidate Trump knew it. Christie recalled seeing on Trump’s face after the leak how much he was dreading Melania’s reaction. He told Jordan:

“Everybody was saying, ‘You should go upstairs and see Melania. Why don’t you go upstairs now and see Melania?’ And he was not rushing to go up there. I said to him, ‘It ain’t going to get any easier. The longer you wait, it’s not going to get any easier.'”

One person said straight up Trump “seemed frightened to face his wife.” As another person in the room put it, Trump was so anxious he literally changed colors:

“He turned red; red was coming up his neck to his ears. I think he understood early on that it was going to create ramifications for him at home, too.”

So what was the reaction? According to the book, Melania “does not yell or throw lamps. She shows her fury quietly and deliberately.” She reportedly told him:

“Now you could lose. You could have blown this for us.”

That’s right. Per the accounts of those around them, Melania was actually one of the only people who thought Trump would be POTUS — and she knew how big a setback this was:

“Melania had been one of the few around Trump who had been telling him he would win. Others thought he would lose but believed the campaign would be a win for the Trump brand: maybe a new Trump TV network, probably more Trump hotels, and certainly more Trump merchandise. But Melania was a believer. Now she told him his mouth had jeopardized their chance at the White House. Trump apologized. He said he didn’t mean any of that; it was just his shtick. She left him to stew and retreated to her own bedroom.”

It was a tense time as no one knew what she would do.

The team knew if Melania walked out on Trump, it would end the campaign. They needed her to be supportive. According to multiple accounts, the campaign even studied Hillary Clinton‘s body language from her interviews after the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

But Melania wanted none of it. Jordan writes:

“When Melania eventually joined the strategy session, she had a one-word reply: “No.” She said she would decide on her own what to do. And right now she was not going on television with her husband.”

Eventually she decided to put out a statement, largely because she didn’t like how her public image was becoming one of pity. According to sources who observed her at the time, she did NOT like people feeling sorry for her.

Christie told Jordan that Donald didn’t dare contradict his wife and agreed to let her put out whatever statement she wanted:

“He understood that his conduct had put her in an embarrassing position and that this was not a woman who was just going to sit there and take it.”

That statement?

“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world.”

Trump reportedly was relieved, telling his team:

“This could have been a lot worse.”

And the rest is history. Awful, horrible history. He got away with it. With all of it.
