The hits keep on coming for Donald Trump! Or should we say the bestsellers since we’re talking about tell-all books?
We just learned last week about an upcoming book by Washington Post reporter Mary Jordan, cultivated from over 100 interviews, which paints a portrait of Melania Trump as a shrewder, more conniving figure than we’ve seen. In addition to possibly exaggerating her education and linguistic skills and lying about her plastic surgery, the book claims, the First Lady used her power over the new President’s public image to renegotiate the prenup he’d made her sign — getting a LOT more before finally moving in to the White House and supporting him.
Now, thanks to a New York Times review of the book — out Tuesday — we have one more amazing tidbit: the secret feud between Melania and the other most important woman in Donald’s life, Ivanka Trump! According to Jordan’s sources, the two have a history of dislike for one another — not too surprising for Ivanka, considering her new stepmother was just 12 years older than she was. That has to be awkward.
But the two apparently had very distinct ideas of one another; Jordan writes:
“Melania has been overheard referring to Ivanka as ‘The Princess.’ Ivanka, when younger, called Melania ‘The Portrait’ because she spoke as often as one.”
Ha! Damn!
Like we said, it isn’t the hottest tea in the world — it’s not like the two look like they get along in public — but it is pretty believable. Which of course means the White House is denying it. Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere released a statement to DailyMail.com about the book generally, saying:
“These allegations couldn’t be further from the truth and had the Washington Post or the publishers of this book fact-checked this with Ivanka’s office, they would know that. Hit pieces like these only serve to conjure non-existent palace-intrigue stories unworthy of the paper they’re printed on.”
LOLz at the use of the term “palace intrigue” for this lot. But seriously, how do you fact check stories that make the woman look bad with her own office? What is she going to say?? (The First Lady’s office also called the book’s allegations “false” for what it’s worth.)
Of course this isn’t the first tell-all that makes Trump and his family look even worse than their public behavior does. And it won’t be the last!
We just learned on Monday there was yet another book about the Trump family coming this Summer, this one from a source much closer than a Post reporter.
Mary Trump, the daughter of Donald’s late brother Fred Trump Jr., is dropping Too Much And Never Enough on August 11. And while we’ll learn most of the contents closer to that date, some has slipped out; The Daily Beast learned from insiders the book will reveal “harrowing and salacious” stories about the president. And from his family members no less! Those family members include Trump’s sister, retired federal judge Maryanne Trump Barry, who is said to share “intimate and damning thoughts about her brother.”
Mary will also reportedly reveal how she was the primary source for The New York Times‘ Pulitzer Prize-winning 2018 exposé on the Trump’s finances (and “dubious tax schemes”). Sounds like she has even more goods on the prez.
