At the Michael Jackson memorial yesterday, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee made a promise to have the U.S. House of Representatives honor the King of Pop.
The Texas Democrat, took the stage Tuesday and presented a framed copy of the resolution, embossed with a gold seal. The motion will soon be debated on the House floor, but it will come across some heavy opposition.
Rep. Peter King, a New York Republican who recently called Michael a “pervert, child molester, pedophile” on a posted YouTube video this week, vowed to do “whatever I have to do” to oppose honoring Jackson.
If someone in the House is opposed to a motion, they are within their rights to ask for a recorded vote, which then requires a two-thirds majority for passage. And we’d bet anything King will force a recorded vote.
But we don’t see the Congresswoman backing down either!
