While everyone continues to mourn in the wake of Michelle Trachtenberg‘s shocking and heartbreaking death, one of those taking to social media to share her memories of the actress is someone you may not have expected — a member of the royal family!
Princess Eugenie — the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York — took to Instagram early on Thursday to convey her heartbroken condolences over the actress’ passing. But not just as a fan… No, they were friends!

In a post published on her Stories, the 34-year-old princess wrote about the best memories she had of Michelle during their long time together as friends. Most notably, that included the funny habit the Gossip Girl alum apparently had about making sure that everyone’s food order came out ever so perfectly:
“Goodbye special friend. You are so loved and missed. Thank you for so many memories of laughter and fun. You were so thoughtful and generous and soooo funny. My favourite was listening to you order food, always done with precision so you got exactly what we all wanted. I’m thinking of you up there friend, of your spirit that was so bright and your joy you brought so many.”
In addition to that heartfelt and poignant message, Eugenie also shared a couple heart emojis to cap it, with the whole thing set on top of a throwback picture of the two women hanging out together during a night out in their younger years.
As we’ve been reporting over the last 24 hours, tributes and memorials have poured in for Trachtenberg from all kinds of celebrities, public figures, and regular ol’ everyday fans alike.
