Molly Shannon is back on the Studio 8H stage!
The 58-year-old actress made a triumphant return to the late-night sketch comedy series, where she previously served as a cast member from 1995 to 2001, alongside musical guests the Jonas Brothers over the weekend. Throughout the night, not only did she bring her musical chops, but she brought back a few of her iconic characters for the night’s episode. We’re talking about the legendary character Sally O’Malley! So buckle up, Perezcious readers, because we have a lot to cover!

Since it was the episode right before Easter Sunday, the show opened with a scene from the Last Supper. But there’s a twist. It turns out the moment between Mikey Day’s Jesus and his disciples was just an intro for none other than James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump, who unsurprisingly compared himself to Jesus again– “a famous, wonderful man arrested for no reason at all.” You can check out the latest hilarious sketch about Trump’s indictment (below):
So good!
For her opening monologue, Molly stepped onto the stage to talk about her new book Hello, Molly, and the shocking amount of honesty she displayed about the hard times her family has faced within it:
“I mean, we all have problems, right. My dad always taught me to keep my chin up and never give up on my showbiz dreams. He would play me old classic musicals. And he would tell me, ‘You know Molly, no matter what problems you face, if you keep a positive attitude everything will turn out ok. I can almost hear him now.”
She then broke out into song with the track Everything’s Coming Up Roses from Gypsy – but she gave it a humorous twist with guest appearances from several cast members, SNL creator Lorne Michaels, and Martin Short. Ch-ch-check it out (below):

OMG! We loved the Mary Katherine Gallagher Superstar pose at the end!!
That wasn’t the only time she brought out one of her old characters! As we mentioned before, Molly stepped back into the role of Sally O’Malley – and yes, she is still 50 years and likes to kick, stretch, and kick. The skit begins with two young choreographers being told that someone more “mature” is coming in to help prep the Jonas Brothers for their Las Vegas residency. In steps, Sally O’Malley decked out in her red top and stretchy pants (pulled up very, very high)! And of course, Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas joined her at one point – in their very own red look too! See the hilarious moment below (below):

Later in the night, SNL dropped a fake advertisement for a meditation app/news source called CNZen that is meant for those who hate Trump and feel very stressed out and anxious after his indictment. See (below):
Heading over to the “Weekend Update,” Bowen Yang as the Aladdin villain Jafar joined hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che to roast Florida Governor Ron DeSantis – or more so known as “the Boy” – over his attacks on Disney World. As Bowen said in the segment:
“Well, Michael, as far as villains go, the boy’s an amateur. He has no rizz, no spark, no drip. The look is giving Baby Mayor. I mean, he did wear those white cowboy boots, but let’s be honest: They wore him. Don’t get me wrong: the boy’s plenty evil. Banning Rosa Parks in schools? I’m a dark sorcerer and even I was like, ‘Jesus, dude! It’s Rosa Parks.’”
Then, Bowen called out DeSantis for holding a grudge toward Disney after the company opposed his controversial “Don’t Say Gay” bill:
“If the boy thinks he can somehow prevent Disney World from being gay, that carpet has flown. I mean, if you opened up Grindr on Main Street, U.S.A., your phone explodes.”
He added:
“Don’t say gay? Well, if there is no gay, there is no Disney, and everyone loves Disney! Including you! Because your dumb ass got married there, and that’s the gayest thing you can do.”
It was such a good takedown of DeSantis! Check it out (below):
Elsewhere in the episode, the JoBros hopped on the stage to perform their two songs, Waffle House and Walls, off their upcoming sixth studio album titled The Album. Watch the ah-mazing performances (below):
