We couldn’t think of a better recipient ourselves!
Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali is joining Bono, Nelson Mandela and President Jimmy Carter as a winner of Philadelphia’s Liberty Medal. It has been awarded to “men and women of courage and conviction who strive to secure the blessings of liberty to people around the globe” since 1989.
The National Constitution Center decided upon Ali because of his legacy as a “fighter for religious and civil rights, a conscientious objector who took his battle to the Supreme Court and won, an ambassador for peace and justice worldwide, and a tireless humanitarian and philanthropist.”
The former heavyweight champion of the world will be honored during a ceremony in the City of Brotherly Love on September 13th.
