Is this better than the clap?!

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump delivered the annual State of the Union address — amid his ongoing impeachment trial no less — but all eyes were on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The two have butted heads numerous times since 2016, and one of the most meme-able moments from 2019 was Pelosi’s overly dramatic clap during the SOTU address. Luckily, she just gave us a new meme to work with last night when she tore up the remarks handed to her by the President at the end of the hour.

Give the moment a watch in all its glory (below):

The evening was already off to a rough start when the recently impeached 73-year-old seemingly denied her outstretched hand for a shake when he handed the speech to Pelosi and Vice President Mike Pence before getting started.

Typically, the speaker would start off the night with:

“I have the high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the president of the United States.”

But since things have been anything but typical since 2016, the 79-year-old stated:

“Members of Congress, the president of the United States.”

Many Trump supporters online were totally outraged by her brash move, which she said “was the courteous thing to do considering the alternative” to reporters after. Though there are some who disagreed with Miz Pelosi, many on Twitter applauded her decision:

Nancy Pelosi ripped up that speech with the energy of a high school English teacher who just caught you plagiarizing in your essay and honestly? We’re here for it.

“For the record, I’d rather see@SpeakerPelosi shred a speech than watch the Republican Party shred the Constitution.”

Trump has thrown out all our norms traditions and decorum Nancy rejecting trump lie filled speech was the perfect remedy and response to a complete disaster as a man leader role model and a president Nancy Pelosi’s did it for us We all celebrate her #NancytheRipper

When our ancestors fought for the equal rights of women — when they yearned to reach a point in time when a woman’s voice was just as loud as a man’s, they envisioned a woman like Nancy Pelosi, standing up for what’s right, and being intimidated by NO man! #NancyPelosiROCKS

I just gained way more respect and admiration for @SpeakerPelosi when she ripped up that speech. #NancyPelosiROCKS #nancyisabadass

Meanwhile, Nancy had her own additional words to say after the fact in her post-address statement. In part, she wrote:

“The manifesto of mistruths presented in page after page of the address tonight should be a call to action for everyone who expects truth from the President and policies worthy of his office and the American people.”

What do U think about Pelosi’s move, Perezcious readers? Was it bold or totally uncalled for?!
