Prepare Your Eardrums -- Fran Drescher Has Been Talking About Reviving The Nanny!

Forget Roseanne — another just-as-iconic sitcom voice from the ‘90s could be returning to the small screen!
Fran Drescher says she’s DOWN to reboot The Nanny, which ran on CBS from 1993 to 1999 and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

The accented actress told Entertainment Tonight this week that she and her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, who co-created the series with her, have been “talking about” reviving the series.
Because of how the original series ended — with the titular nanny Fran Fine marrying her boss, millionaire producer Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy) — Drescher said the characters would be in much different place than they were 20 years ago, teasing:

“The thing is our show would be the same characters 20 years later. We can’t just pick up where we left off. But in a way, that could be really good because the show can have a whole fresh bend to it.”

So, what would Fran be doing now?

“All kinds of things from environmental issues, to health, to civil liberties, that’s what I think Fran would be doing now — opening her big Queens mouth for the greater good.”

We guess that means they have to change the title to The Activist?
Either way, it wouldn’t be a reboot without some biting political commentary!
