Bill had previously served as a hospital corpsman from 1956 until 1960 when he was honorably discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer.
This announcement comes on the heels of Bill breaking his silence by tweeting out his thanks to supporters Whoopi Goldberg and Jill Scott.
