Looks like you lose!
Remember when we told you that New Jersey taxpayers were going to have to cough up the dough for Jersey Shore‘s production costs??
Yeah, well, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie just made sure that THAT won’t happen.
He just squashed the tax credit proposal, dubbed “The Snooki Subsidy,” which would give producers of the reality show $420,000 in state corporate tax credits.
Gov. Christie said in a letter he sent to the authority:

“We must ensure that our limited taxpayer dollars are spent on programs and projects that best benefit the State of New Jersey.
I have no interest in policing the content of such projects.
I am duty-bound to ensure that taxpayers are not footing a $420,000 bill for a project which does nothing more than perpetuate misconceptions about the state and its citizens.”

So, there you have it! Looks like the Governor of New Jersey, along with NJ’s citizens, are still none too happy about the show’s depiction of their precious state. Sure, it might not be the best representation of Jersey, but they must admit that the show has brought in a ton of money just on tourism alone! Riiiight??
