Investigators have released what they believe is the actual audio recording capturing the Titan submersible’s implosion.
It’s been a while since we’ve had an update on the OceanGate disaster, but the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has dropped some more info — in the form of an audio file. Back when the doomed deep sea tourism sub vanished on its voyage down to the Titanic, there were several audio recordings making their rounds on social media. Some of booming sounds, some of knocking sounds, but the truth of the matter is those noises could’ve been anything. Sound travels extremely quickly through water, and with those high-tech mics that get pushed beneath the surface, lots of noises get picked up.

But now, thanks to NOAA and the US Coast Guard on Saturday, we have what is believed to be audio of the REAL implosion — and brace yourselves, because it is beyond eerie. Listen to it (below):
It sounds like thunder… so scary.
This recording was captured about 900 miles away from where the sub actually imploded by a NOAA device, and it’s described as the “suspected acoustic signature” of the disaster.
And to think, five people lost their lives in that short moment. OceanGate founder Stockton Rush, submariner and Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood, and his son Suleman Dawood all died in the tragedy — after paying a huge sum to even be aboard the horrifyingly unsafe thing.
We can expect to receive a full report from the Coast Guard in the future, but in the meantime, what are your reactions to this audio? Let us know your thoughts in the comments (below).
